From a London flat to thousands of UK homes
How it started
Second Hand Phones was born out of a simple frustration: why should a great smartphone cost hundreds of pounds when millions of perfectly good devices sit in drawers, destined for landfill? We started in a small London flat with a handful of phones and a big idea.
Where we are today
Today we serve thousands of customers across the UK. Every order we ship is a device that did not end up in landfill, and every customer who chooses us over buying new helps push back against the e-waste crisis — one phone at a time.
Why it matters
The e-waste problem
E-waste is the fastest-growing waste stream on the planet. Over 50 million tonnes are discarded every year globally, with smartphones among the biggest contributors. Manufacturing a single new phone produces roughly 70kg of CO₂ and requires rare minerals mined at significant environmental cost. By choosing a refurbished phone, you cut that footprint dramatically — and help keep toxic materials out of landfill.
